2.5PI TR5 TR6 Throttle Countershafts
2.5PI TR5 TR6 Throttle Linkages for CP & CR Cars

We remanufacture original spec underslung throttle linkages and countershafts for all TR5 TR6 and 2.5PI cars and overhead throttle linkages that use the original spec countershafts and linkage rods. As they are original specification, you can be sure your butterflies will be opened fully and the fast idle cam has the correct profile and can be adjusted to line up with the follower. Our brackets, levers and cams are laser cut, folded using our own press tools and jig welded. Steel used for the throttle cable bracket is thicker than standard to avoid the need for the bracing plate used on later CP countershaft assemblies. Holes for swivel posts are reamed after plating. We also have stocks of original reconditioned throttle countershafts and throttle / choke lever mechanisms for all TR5 TR6 and 2.5PI CP and CR cars.

2.5PI TR5 TR6 Underslung Throttle Linkage / 2.5PI TR5 TR6 Underslung Throttle Countershaft

We remanufacture the original specification throttle countershafts for all CP Triumph TR5 TR6 and 2.5PI cars. These are supplied complete with fast idle mechanism, mounting brackets, throttle stops etc.

Throttle countershafts TR5 TR6 2.5PI

Whilst the long levers of the 2.5PI CP Mk2 throttle countershafts are quite obvious, the differences between the TR5 / TR6 and Mk1 2.5PI throttle countershaft are not so obvious, but they are not interchangeable due to the differences with the butterfly lever arm that operates the rear throttle body.

The TR5 / TR6 throttle countershaft and the Mk1 2.5 PI throttle countershaft will work with the Phoenix type extractor manifold. The Mk2 2.5 PI throttle countershaft will not as there is insufficient space for the long levers ands rods. If you want to use a Phoenix type extractor manifold on your Mk2 2.5 PI, you can fit the Mk1 throttle countershaft and linkage rods.

If you want to fit a full blown racing exhaust manifold to your TR5 TR6 or 2.5PI, you will need to fit our 2.5PI TR5 TR6 overhead throttle linkage - see below.

CP 2.5PI TR5 TR6 Throttle Countershaft Bearings / CP 2.5PI TR5 TR6 Throttle Linkage Bearings

Our remanufactured and reconditioned TR5 TR6 and 2.5PI CP throttle countershafts are supplied with a range of countershaft bearing options, see photo:

4. SuperPro polyurethane bushes. These are fitted as standard with our underslung countershafts. Price below is for bushes only and does not include the brackets.

5. Oil impregnated and self-lubricating Oilite bushes (not to be confused with brass). These are an improvement on the SuperPro bushes as there is no flex, but they require precise alignment of the brackets to avoid binding (correct alignment may require the brackets to be bent to ensure correct alignment). These are standard fitment on our overhead throttle linkage.

6. Self-aligning sealed ball bearings. These clamp to the ends of the countershaft and as the name suggests, they self-align, and as they clamp to the countershaft it does not matter if the ends of your shaft are damaged or worn. These are aan upgrade four our underslung throttle linkage.

CR 2.5PI TR6 Throttle Linkage & CR 2.5PI TR6 Choke Linkages

We remanufacture and recondition original CR throttle linkages and CR choke linkages for the later TR6 and 2.5PI cars.

Again, they differ, however in this instance they are interchangeable between early and late CR cars, so long as the appropriate linkage rod is used (which we also remanufacture).

2.5PI TR5 & TR6  Overhead Throttle Linkage

If you have a full-blown sports extractor exhaust manifold fitted to your 2.5PI TR5 or TR6, we have an overhead throttle linkage that uses the original spec countershaft and slightly modified and inverted linkage rods.

Our 2.5PI, TR5 TR6 overhead throttle linkage is fully braced against lateral movement, it has the correct profile on the choke fast idle cam. It uses standard CP throttle and choke cables.

 

There is lateral adjustment of the countershaft and fast idle cam to ensure everything aligns correctly when fitted.

​

Linkage rods are adjusted and locked off from the top without the need to remove the plenum or get your hands anywhere near the hot exhaust manifold.

​

The linkage rods are original late CP type with a fine UNF thread at one end to enable infinite and precise synchronisation of your butterflies.

  • The TR5 TR6 and 2.5PI overhead throttle linkage is a direct fit for CP cars. It can be fitted to CR cars if our CR to CP butterfly spindles are fitted. TR6 and 2.5PI CP choke and throttle cables will also be required.

  • Standard CP throttle and choke cables fit without modification.

  • Our uprated CP throttle cable fits the overhead throttle linkage and we have also developed a version of our choke cable kit to suit.
